Don’t see your Products on Google Product Listing?

Wondering why your products are removed from Google’s Product Listing? You guessed it right. Google has come up with yet another change in their policies.

They now require that all promotional text / offer details be removed from actual product name and included in the description portion of the product.

For all your Yahoo! Store Merchants, you’ll need to change the names of all your products so that they do not contain promotional text such as – “FREE SHIPPING”, “20% off”, “On Sale!”, “Limited Edition” etc. from the *NAME* field of the product.

Alternatively, you can include these kind of promotion in your ABSTRACT or CAPTION field where your product information is displayed.

Here’s the official announcement on Yahoo Store Blog about the same:

Yahoo! Merchant Solutions customers with store items that include promotional text (such as mention of free shipping) in the item name or description may find that their product listings are being removed from Google’s product listings. Initial investigation of this issue shows that this may be occurring due to a change in enforcement of Google’s program policies.

For more information, please consult the Content Policies section of Google’s Program Policies page, which states, “Do not include promotional or boilerplate text in your product data feed. All text should directly describe the product you are submitting. Text relating to shipping or store policies should not be included.” You may also wish to read a Google support forum thread that discusses this problem.

We recommend that merchants using promotional text in their item names or descriptions edit these fields (Name and Caption fields) to remove this text. Please see our Store Editor and Catalog Managerhelp pages to learn more about editing item fields.

Yahoo! Store Update: .com URLs for Checkout Disabled Officially

If you’re wondering why all of a sudden your store stopped working and the “Add to Cart” is no longer working! – then you’re not guessing, it is official now.

Yahoo! officially disabled the .com URLs for the checkout/shopping carts for Yahoo! Stores. If your store was coded to have the form actions with http://order.store.yahoo.com – then your customers will not be able to buy the goods. Rather, they’ll see a screen like you see by clicking the link below:

http://order.store.yahoo.com

The fix required is to change the URLs of the entire store to use the http://order.store.yahoo.net to have them lead to the correct domain.

IndiaNIC understands the position of our valuable customers and hence, if you’re an existing or ex-customer of IndiaNIC, just let us know if you had experienced this problem and we’ll fix it up for you for absolutely free of charge!

We realize that you do not have to worry for a change in the platform and we’re more than glad to do an upgrade to our code – for which you are not required to pay.

If you are not an IndiaNIC customer and want to fix this – we’re more than glad to assist you in the upgrade of the code.

Just let us know your interest by sending an email to yahoostore@indianic.com.

Granting Yahoo Store Access for Other Yahoo! IDs

You can give access to your store to more than one Yahoo! ID. To do so, you’ll need to do the following:

1. Sign in to the Store Manager for your store with a Yahoo! ID that does have access to your store.
2. Click the “Access” link in the Site Settings column.
3. Enter the Yahoo! ID that you wish to add to the access list for your store into the appropriate text input field on that page.
4. Select an appropriate access level for that new Yahoo! ID. All access allows the ID to do everything in your store, including adding and removing access for other Yahoo! IDs.
5. Once you’ve entered the Yahoo! ID into the text input box and selected a level of access for that ID, click the [Add] button. A page will appear that asks you if you’re sure that you wish to add that ID to your store. Click [Proceed] to add that ID to your store.

You should make sure that each new Yahoo! ID granted access to your Yahoo! Store has the appropriate level of access.

Learn more about granting Granting Access to a Store for Other Yahoo! IDs here:

http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/store/manage/sitesettings/sitesettings-07.html

Make sure you do not give your master access that you use to login to any developer unless they require to work on some specific tasks. There ARE some operations that are done only by your id – which will be asked by your developer when required – other than that, the Store Access granted with above mechanism will suffice for the most part.

I hope this help.

Thanks -

Yahoo! Migrates all stores to New Checkout Manager

Dear Yahoo Store Owners:

This is going to be a very important update from the perspective of giving the customers a smooth experience to the store and will end up having all the checkout systems synchronized.

This is what Yahoo! had to say on their official blog.

Before heading into the weekend, we want to remind merchants who’ve recently migrated to Checkout Manager to publish Order Settings before old checkout systems are shut down on SEPTEMBER 1.

If your store was automatically migrated to Checkout Manager after August 15 (this applies to all stores not user-migrated prior to this date), your Order Settings were not published as part of this migration. If you have not published Order Settings since the migration, you must do so before September 1.

If you don’t publish Order Settings, your checkout will no longer function once the old systems are shut down. Your store will not be able to accept any new orders until Order Settings are published.

Stores built in Store Editor will also require an Editor publish for new order button settings to take effect. If your store uses custom order buttons or has any old checkout links hard-coded into the site template (links pointing to order.store.yahoo.com URLs), you’ll need to manually update these links to point to order.store.yahoo.net URLs. Learn how.

If you’re new to Checkout Manager and are looking for assistance and resources, remember to check out our extensive Checkout Manager help section and the Getting Started with Checkout Manager guide.
